JM Rizzi: About The Current ArtWorks Exhibition at Renaissance Tower
JM Rizzi is a contemporary artist whose work explores the intersection of gesture, structure, and the built environment. Rooted in abstraction yet charged with the pulse of urban energy, his practice navigates the balance between chaos and control, chance and design. Rizzi’s visual language—formed from looping lines, fractured scaffolds, and spatial layering—translates movement into material form, echoing the rhythms of the city and the complexities of human experience
Educated in painting and design, Rizzi emerged from the New York street art scene of the late 1990s, a context that continues to inform his sensibility for scale, improvisation, and the politics of mark-making. Over time, his work has evolved from raw graffiti aesthetics into refined, architectonic compositions that retain their sense of motion and urgency. His surfaces—dense with overlapping gestures—become spaces where order and disorder coexist, a dialogue between intuition and structure.
Rizzi’s recent series, Studies in Collapse and Order, expands this investigation into a broader cultural framework. The paintings and sculptures oscillate between formalism and entropy, evoking social systems under strain and the instability of meaning in a post-digital world. Through looping geometries and fragmented planes, he visualizes the feedback loops of our time—cycles of conflict, misinformation, and renewal—transforming abstraction into a critical lens on the collective psyche.
