Business Council for the Arts (BCA) is a nonprofit organization founded in 1988 to unite commerce and culture across North Texas. For nearly four decades, BCA has advanced business support of the arts, developed business leaders for nonprofit boards, fostered workplace creativity, guided strategic investments in arts and culture, and measured the economic impact of arts in our region.
About the Role
The Finance Manager is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of BCA’s financial operations. This part-time position is ideal for an experienced finance professional who values flexibility and wants to apply their expertise to support a mission-driven nonprofit that advances the arts.
Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with board leadership, the Finance Manager will manage all aspects of accounting and financial reporting, providing insights that guide BCA’s strategic growth.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Payroll
- Manage monthly payroll with accuracy and timeliness.
- Oversee daily accounting activities, including deposits, accounts payable, receivables, and reconciliations.
- Ensure timely and accurate invoicing of memberships and donations.
Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Prepare clear monthly and quarterly financial reports for the CEO, Executive Committee, and Board of Directors.
- Maintain compliance with GAAP and nonprofit regulatory requirements.
- Oversee annual audit preparation and serve as primary liaison with external auditors.
- Prepare 1099s/1096 filings and documentation for annual IRS Form 990.
Budgeting & Planning
- Collaborate with the CEO and Treasurer/Finance Committee Chair to prepare the annual balanced budget.
- Provide timely financial insights to support leadership decision-making.
Records & Administration
- Act as custodian of records for contracts, insurance policies, benefits, leases, and bank accounts.
- Maintain accurate and organized financial and organizational files.
Qualifications
- Proven expertise in accounting and nonprofit finance
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, IRS, and state compliance for nonprofits
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and MS Office
- Exceptional attention to detail, confidentiality, and reliability
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Passion for supporting the arts and BCA’s mission
Position Details
- Part-time, approx. 15 hours per week
- Reports to CEO
