Elizabeth Van Vleck Bio
Associate Executive Director, Bruce Wood Dance
With a long and multifaceted career in dance, Elizabeth Van Vleck joined Bruce Wood Dance as associate executive director in 2022 to ensure the company’s longevity, expand its national touring program, strengthen connections and partnerships across the country, and broaden community impact initiatives including masterclasses, workshops, and educational engagement programs.
Van Vleck has a lifetime of experience in dance as a performer, teaching artist, choreographer, répétiteur, administrator, management consultant, and fundraiser. She has worked with some of the world’s most prestigious dance companies and institutions, including New York City Ballet, National Dance Institute, Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, CalArts, Shapiro & Smith Dance, Diavolo Architecture in Motion, BODYTRAFFIC, and TITAS DANCE/UNBOUND, North Texas’ preeminent presenter of international contemporary dance and performance art.
With TITAS, Van Vleck served as director of development overseeing all aspects of fundraising that included six years of Arts Projects funding from the National Endowment for the Arts, and a Performance Forward Fund award from the esteemed Doris Duke Charitable Foundation. She also co-led TITAS’ collaborative education and engagement programs including visiting artist master classes and salons, Dance for PD Dallas, and TITAS Cultural Excursions.
Van Vleck holds a B.S. in Psychology (CUNY Baccalaureate, Magna Cum Laude), and an M.F.A. in Arts Administration from Southern Utah University under William J. Byrnes, author of Management and the Arts. She has served as guest-lecturer, panelist, and/or mentor for Texas Commission on the Arts, the City of Dallas Office of Arts & Culture, TACA, Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, and Southern Methodist University.
