The Art of Healing: Supporting Parkland’s Comprehensive Breast Center:

This spring, class members of Leadership Arts Institute (LAI), a program of Business for the Arts, are working to make a difference in the lives of more than 30,000 patients annually who will be cared for at the new comprehensive breast center at Parkland Hospital.

 The LAI Class of 2018 is currently raising funds for the acquisition of evidence-based art that will create a healing environment at the breast health center. Evidence-based art and design is shown to lower blood pressure, lessen the need for pain medicine and encourage earlier discharge times, creating optimal settings for both patients and caregivers.

 Each class member has made a personal donation to this project. In addition, 100% of the proceeds raised will be donated to the Parkland Foundation to purchase art that provides a healing environment.  Parkland Hospital and Parkland Foundation are raising money for the breast health center’s construction and equipment. They are relying on this project, and generous donors in the community, to provide funds for art that will create a state of the art breast health facility.
