Leadership Arts Institute
Leadership Arts Institute is in its 30th year in Dallas County and has provided more than 1,000 graduates to the North Texas arts community. In 2014, BCA received a grant from the King Foundation to fund an expansion of the program to Collin and Denton Counties, so that more individuals, businesses, and arts organizations can get involved. Both classes follow the same course structure and general curriculum, but will focus on venues, leaders, and issues relevant to their respective communities.
Selection and Time Commitment
The program consists of 10 modules, beginning with a class introduction and bonding session that is based in the performing and visual arts. Classes in Dallas begin in September and meet on the second Tuesday. Classes in Collin and Denton Counties begin in September and meet the third Thursday of every month from 8:00 a.m. to noon. This allows a full academic experience while preserving a section of the workday. Each class is selected from a pool of qualified and culturally diverse candidates. Sessions contain a combination of informational and experiential activities to maximize the value of your participation. Classes are conducted in various arts facilities in the region to provide a comprehensive level of awareness of arts venues.
Tuition is inclusive of all materials, food service, event fees, and one year of membership with Leadership Arts Alumni. All Leadership Arts Institute graduates will be given the opportunity to be placed on an arts and culture board of directors in the region.
