North Texas Business for Culture and the Arts Announces Name Change to Business Council for the Arts

DALLAS, Texas (January 11, 2010) - North Texas Business for Culture and the Arts (NTBCA), the North Texas-based business membership organization, announced today that the board has approved a name change to Business Council for the Arts effective immediately. The name change is part of a branding initiative that CEO Katherine Wagner says will help raise awareness of Business Council for the Arts' presence in the North Texas region and beyond.

CEO Katherine Wagner said, "As we continue to expand our reach and influence within the business, arts and cultural communities of North Texas, our evolution to Business Council for the Arts will increase understanding and awareness of the organization through a more streamlined name and a branding campaign which will follow suit."

"There has never been a more important time in the history of North Texas arts and culture," said Thomas S. Leatherbury, Chairman of NTBCA's Board of Directors and Partner at Vinson & Elkins.  "We are excited to move forward with this new branding initiative and to welcome new business patrons of the arts who will continue to position the region as a world-class community."

For more than 21 years, the NTBCA, now Business Council for the Arts, has aimed to build world-class communities in North Texas through the creation of strong business/arts partnerships and effective programs including Leadership Arts, The Obelisk Awards, The North Texas Arts Alliance, ArtWorks and the often-resourced Economic Impact Study of Nonprofit Arts and Cultural Organizations in North Texas created in partnership with Deloitte & Touche.
